Funder: Quartet Community Foundation – Community Games Grants Programme

Small, local, voluntary and community organisations can apply for grants to bring communities together to take part in sporting and cultural activities inspired by, and in celebration of the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympics Games.  Organisations must:

·         Be prepared to participate in publicity, both locally and nationally, attached to any award received
·         Have charitable aims (although the organisation does not have to be a registered charity
·         Be constituted
·         Have at least two signatories to authorise cheques, if they have their own bank account

The funded event should reflect the Olympic values of excellence, friendship and respect, and the Paralympic values of determination, courage, inspiration and equality.  Events should celebrate the uniqueness of the applicant community.  Some communities may focus on contests to give the event a competitive element, others may want to focus on giving people the opportunity to try something new.  Events should provide an opportunity for everyone in the community to participate.

The foundation was set up by the South Western Co-operative Housing Society and was launched in September 2001. the overall aim of the Foundation’s grant programmes is to alleviate poverty and hardship by supporting organisations working with people most in need in the market and coastal towns and rural areas of the South west Region. 

Grants of up to £1,000 are available for funding projects that encourage and enable people to take part in their communities.

Applications may be submitted at any time, but applicants must contact the Foundation to discuss their proposal before an application form can be sent out.

·         Respite care, and holidays (in the UK only).  Grants for holidays are only given where there is a large element of respite care and only to registered charities, not to individuals
·         Organisations helping and supporting refugees and asylum-seekers
·         The restoration of churches of architectural importance.

Concertina makes grants to a wide range of charitable organisations nationwide in England and Wales.  Including funds to many care homes for the elderly to provide musical entertainment for their residents.  The Trust is keen to support smaller organisations which might otherwise find it difficult to gain funding.

The Fund has been established to give grants to help fund the core costs of running community radio stations.  These core functions include:
·         Fundraising to support the station (e.g. grants, commercial funding)
·         Management
·         Administration
·         Financial management and reporting
·         Community outreach
·         Volunteer organisation and support

The Fund makes grant for research into learning disability and to aid the care and relief of those affected by learning disability.  You can apply for capital and revenue costs, and for project running costs. 

The following areas of work normally fall within the Fund’s policy:
·         Capital building/renovation/refurbishment works for residential, nursing and respite care, and schools
·         Employment schemes including woodwork, crafts, printing and horticulture
·         Play schemes and play therapy schemes
·         Independent living schemes
·         Support in the community schemes
·         Swimming and hydrotherapy pools and snoezelen rooms

The Archer Trust is a UK Christian charitable grant-making trust.

If you meet the following criteria, they may be able to help you: You are a small UK charity for whom a grant of between £250 and £3,000 will make a big difference. In one way or another, you provide aid or support to a defined group of needy or deserving people, for instance those with physical or mental disabilities or the disadvantaged.

The scheme is intended to support organisations providing specialist equipment or care provisions for people with special education needs who are under the age of 19. Special educational needs include communication and learning difficulties, deafness, blindness, in a wheelchair and autism.

Projects must be innovative and not be available under normal local authority or Central Government provision.

Grants are available to Scout groups across the UK. Grants are available for various purposes and groupings, whilst others support individual members who may be experiencing financial hardship in being involved in Scouting activities.

Community Plus grants are available for small local charities or local projects of national charities with funding available to cover salaries, equipment or materials.  Grants must directly help disadvantaged people in your local area.   Just visit any Santander branch and complete a Community Plus Nomination, and drop the completed form into your local branch.

Funder: Noel Buxton Trust Family Grant

The focus of this grand is families experiencing domestic violence.  Trustees recognise that problematic relationships between adults is at the heart of the most serious difficulties experienced by parents and their children.  Trustees will consider projects that work with survivors and/or perpetrators of domestic violence.

The Trustees will consider applications for recurrent funding over several years, and for core running costs.
